Invitation to the members of the End User Panel
We take pleasure in inviting you to the 2nd ordinary convention of the DEWS End User Panel, to be held at BMKG in Jakarta on the 23rd and 24th of November 2009.
The meeting constitutes a very important milestone in terms of the development of the Wide Area Demonstrator (former ‘Regional Demonstrator’). The Wide Area Demonstrator is the most progressive deliverable of our venture and will be the basement for future collaboration and projects. It is dedicated to distant warning and communication between warning centres in the Indian Ocean area.
The preparation activities and coupling with national systems will be supported by the End User Panel.
The performance of DEWS will be demonstrated to a broad audience during the final conference (DEWS Outreach Event) presumably in April 2010 in Hat Yai, Thailand .
Moreover, we also would like to discuss the next steps for the curriculum for tertiary education in terms of an academic trained early warning engineer. The collection of possible universities and their specific institutions who can contribute to the curriculum has been already completed.
The planning of funding applications will be another important issue.
